Business West

Business West’s innovation in international trade: Carnet tracker and CarnetCheck

Business West is pioneering the digital transformation of ATA Carnets, driving efficiency and compliance in international trade. In October 2023, we completed the world’s first end-to-end digital carnet journey, marking a major milestone in global trade documentation.

Recognising ongoing challenges, such as lost carnets and time-consuming manual checks, we developed two innovative solutions:

  1. Carnet Tracking Device – A bespoke 3D-printed insert that houses a tracking device, enabling businesses to locate misplaced carnets and avoid costly customs claims.
  2. CarnetCheck – An AI-powered data validation tool integrated into our eCert platform, streamlining the checking of large, complex general lists and improving accuracy.

By leveraging AI and digitalisation, Business West is leading the way in modernising trade documentation, ensuring businesses are fully prepared for the global rollout of digital carnets while reinforcing the Chamber’s role as an essential trade partners.

IHK Fulda

From employees to co-creators: Alignment of a chamber with New Work principles

Every year, the Gallup State of the Global Workplace Report reveals poor leadership worldwide. As an answer to the crisis of leadership the IHK Fulda was the first Chamber of Commerce and Industry and business organization in Germany (and probably far beyond) to focus on modern management approaches and the holistic orientation of the entire organization according to New Work principles such as transparency, participation and diversity. By changing the way our organization works we have created an environment of psychological safety for employees. An environment in which everyone can be who they really are. In such an environment, employees feel comfortable and open up. Thus, many ideas emerged from all parts of the chamber and were implemented, which in turn leads to better results for the member companies.
